Pedro Honey's "For You, If You're Even Listening" in support of Brigid Alliance

Today we rock with good friend of NNH, Pedro Honey (aka Jaime Santiago.)

FOR YOU, IF YOU’RE EVEN LISTENING, by Pedro Honey
3 track album

Last July, I saw Jaime play at Para La Libertad - a multi-band show to benefit CHIRLA. He opened with a cover of "In Heaven" from David Lynch's Eraserhead that melted my mind.

Saint David had just recently passed on to what was no doubt the most surrealistic afterlife imaginable, and the air was thick with grief. It was hard to comprehend the loss of such a visionary artist/ human/ being of pure consciousness. Especially given the city he wholeheartedly loved (and wholeheartedly loved him back) was now under siege by ICE agents.

Truth and Beauty had just lost one if it's freakiest champions, and unimaginative assholes lurked behind every corner. It was hot; and we needed a release. Luckily for us, the rest of Jaime's set looked, sounded, and felt exactly like this:

In fact, this is photo is exactly what it feels to just be friends with Jaime. Unbridled enthusiasm can be a hard thing to come by in these early days of the Apocalypse. But spend 5 minutes around the dude, and your lust for life will be restored to pre-Trumpian/ Hansa Studio by the Wall levels.

Every so often you get lucky enough to meet another artist who feels somehow compatible with the past, present, and future versions yourself. They get where you're coming from; are down to kick it day of (no matter where/ when you're at); and don't make you feel silly about being hopeful the work that still needs to be done. Jaime is one of those people to me; and his own freaky commitment to Truth and Beauty is something I'm really grateful to witness.

At the show DIY silk-screened shirts were available - with all the sales donated to groups protecting LA's street vendor community.

Sometimes shit gets dark.
And hope can start to fade.
Presently we all expect the worst.
But Jaime belongs to that long tradition of musicians that understand if you can get someone dancing - to just put their little feet down- one can get closer to a Heaven of their own making.

You're blowing Marxism to pieces.

A call to action, commonly known by the initialism CTA, is a strategic marketing tool designed to spur an immediate response from an audience, guiding them toward a specific action.

NNH began with the (perhaps naive) hope that it could be of service to folks who needed it. I wasn't exactly sure who that meant- Was it the potential readership? The Mutual Aid groups that would be featured in each post? Or other creative types (equally fed up with the constant "me at the center" paradigm required by our Tech Overlords) looking for a place to get weird and do some good.

SO, if you're out there- whomever you may be- Let me know. Leave a comment. Click a link. Tell a friend. Pitch an idea. Do anything to feel less alone in the world.
